Woke, described as a seasoned engineer and politician, has previously held positions such as Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and Chief of Staff at the Port Harcourt Government House.

The Ogun–Osun River Basin Development Authority, established by the Federal Government, falls under the Ministry of Water Resources.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of integrity and transparency in Woke’s role, urging him to prioritize the region’s water resources for industrial, agricultural, and community development.
