Nigerian controversial content creator, Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has finally addressed the viral videos of his alleged wedding, revealing that the ceremony was not a genuine marriage but a carefully orchestrated publicity stunt.

Speaking during an interview with StreamRewind, the social media personality disclosed that the event was organised as a promotional campaign and social experiment to observe how Nigerians would react.

According to GehGeh, the wedding was deliberately staged to generate conversations and measure public opinion.

“We organised everything as a normal promo. And so far, apart from the fact that we purposely did it, I still wanted to get the public’s reactions,” he said.

The revelation comes after days of widespread reactions online, with many fans and fellow celebrities expressing surprise over the supposed marriage, especially given GehGeh’s long-standing views on relationships.

Addressing the criticism that followed the viral videos, GehGeh insisted he had never spoken against marriage itself. Instead, he claimed his message has always been in support of polygamy rather than monogamy.

According to him, many people misunderstood the teachings of what he jokingly refers to as his “GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University.”

“Some people have a misunderstanding about my GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University. The major thing they have been saying is that GehGeh told them not to get married, but I got married. I did not kick against marriage. I said, ‘Do not marry, and even if you must marry, go for polygamy.’ This is because polygamy is the path that guides a man’s heart from heartbreak. Because when you are with different women, it will be hard for one woman to manipulate you. And this was what our forefathers practised. That is the core principle of my university,” he explained.

His comments have sparked fresh debate on social media, with many Nigerians divided over both the staged wedding and his views on marriage and polygamy. The revelation also ends speculation surrounding the authenticity of the viral ceremony, confirming that it was part of a publicity campaign rather than a real wedding.
