- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced a new online self-service portal that allows Nigerians to register for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a new online self-service portal that enables eligible Nigerians to register for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), transfer their voting location, update personal information and replace lost or damaged voter cards.
The platform is part of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and allows first-time voters to complete most of the registration process online, including biometric capture using a compatible mobile device.
The initiative follows INEC’s decision to extend the nationwide CVR exercise by two weeks, shifting the registration deadline from July 10 to July 24, 2026, to accommodate more eligible voters.
How to Register Online
To register, applicants should visit the INEC Self-Service CVR Portal and create an account using their name, mobile number, email address and password.
After creating an account, applicants must verify their National Identification Number (NIN) before completing their biodata, including their date of birth, occupation, address, educational qualification and other personal details.
Applicants will then select their preferred state, local government area, ward and polling unit where they intend to vote.
Where necessary, supporting documents can also be uploaded.
The portal requires applicants to capture their passport photograph and fingerprints using the official INEC mobile application. A QR code and link are provided to complete the biometric capture process.
After reviewing all submitted information, applicants can submit their registration online.
Other Services Available
Beyond fresh registration, the portal also allows users to:
- Transfer to another polling unit.
- Correct or update personal information.
- Check where to collect their PVC.
- Apply for the replacement of lost, stolen or damaged voter cards.
- Review previously submitted applications.
Alternative Pre-Registration Option
Applicants who do not wish to complete biometric capture on a mobile phone or those without a National Identification Number can choose the pre-registration option.
This process involves completing the online form, booking an appointment for biometric capture, printing the application slip and visiting an INEC registration centre to capture fingerprints and photographs before collecting the PVC when it is ready.
According to INEC, the online pre-registration system is designed to reduce waiting time at registration centres and improve the management of voter registration nationwide.
