  • A heated online feud has erupted between actor Lege Miami and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali after Lege insulted the keeper and referenced his late father.

The online altercation between Nollywood actor Lege Miami and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has escalated dramatically, following Nwabali’s furious response to Lege’s comments about his late father.

The clash began after Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier defeat to DR Congo — a loss that ruled the Super Eagles out of the 2026 tournament. In a heated outburst, Lege blasted Nwabali and his teammates, calling the goalkeeper an “oloriburuku” and dragging his late father into the rant. The comment drew widespread backlash from Nigerians.

In response, a visibly angry Nwabali issued a warning to the actor, making it clear that he would not tolerate disrespect toward his deceased father.

Nwabali said: “Remove my late Dad’s name from your mouth when you are doing content. If you don’t respect people’s dads, you should respect the dead. I am not your regular type of footballer. I will beat you mercilessly.”

Lege has now fired back in a newly released audio. While offering a partial apology for mentioning the deceased, he doubled down on his criticism.

Lege said: “Sorry that I mentioned your late dad, but you are rude. You are an imbecile and an idiot.”

The actor maintained that he had every right to criticize the national team, insisting that public figures should be ready to face backlash when they fail Nigerians. He also called on Nwabali to apologise to fans for the Super Eagles’ poor outing.

The feud has continued to trend across social media, with many condemning Lege for involving Nwabali’s late father, while others criticized the goalkeeper for issuing physical threats.

Lege joins a growing list of celebrities who have publicly expressed frustration with the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, including comedian AY Makun.
