Nigerians are already searching for the official INEC candidate list for the 2027 general election, especially the names of presidential, Senate and House of Representatives candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, opened its Candidate Nomination Portal for political parties to upload the names and personal particulars of candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

As of Tuesday, July 21, 2026, voters should note that political party submissions are different from the final official candidate list. INEC must process the uploaded names, review personal particulars and publish them through official channels.

Has INEC Released the 2027 Candidate List?

INEC has not yet published a full final list of 2027 presidential and National Assembly candidates on its public website as of the latest checks.

However, political parties have already submitted names through the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal.

Reports show that parties such as the APC, ADC, NDC, SDP, PRP, YPP, ZLP and others uploaded presidential candidate details before the deadline.

The APC also announced that it completed the upload of 471 candidates, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, 109 Senate candidates and 360 House of Representatives candidates.

When Will INEC Publish the Candidate List?

INEC’s timetable provides for the publication of candidate particulars after the nomination window.

The publication of candidates’ personal particulars is important because it allows the public, party members and other candidates to inspect submitted details and challenge false information in court where necessary.

Reports say INEC is expected to publish the names and personal particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates after processing party submissions.

Voters should check only INEC’s official website and verified INEC communication channels.

Official INEC Website to Check Candidate List

The official INEC website is:

  5. Download the PDF or view the uploaded list
  6. Search by party, state, senatorial district or federal constituency

INEC may also publish candidate particulars at state offices and constituency locations as required by law.

How to Check Presidential Candidates

When INEC publishes the official list, presidential candidates will usually include:

  • Name of presidential candidate
  • Name of running mate
  • Political party
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Qualification
  • Submitted personal particulars

Voters should confirm names from INEC, not from social media screenshots.

To check Senate candidates:

  1. Go to the INEC candidate list page when available.
  2. Select Senate or National Assembly.
  3. Choose your state.
  4. Select your senatorial district.
  5. Check candidates by party.

Nigeria has 109 Senate seats, so each party may submit candidates for different senatorial districts.

To check House of Representatives candidates:

  1. Visit the INEC website.
  2. Open the 2027 candidate list.
  3. Select House of Representatives.
  4. Choose your state and federal constituency.
  5. Check the candidate names and parties.

There are 360 House of Representatives seats across Nigeria.

Why Some Names May Change Later

Even after publication, candidate names may still change in some cases.

This can happen because of:

  • Court judgments
  • Withdrawal by candidates
  • Death of a candidate
  • Substitution allowed by law
  • Party nomination disputes
  • False information cases

That is why voters should always check the final INEC list before election day.

Warning: Avoid Fake Candidate Lists

Many fake 2027 candidate lists are already circulating online.

A list is suspicious if:

  • It is not from INEC
  • It has no official source link
  • It appears only on WhatsApp or Facebook
  • It claims INEC has secretly released names
  • It contains party logos but no INEC reference
  • It asks users to pay to check names

The only reliable source is INEC or clearly sourced reports quoting INEC.

What Voters Should Do Now

Voters should:

  • Follow INEC’s official website.
  • Check INEC’s verified social media handles.
  • Confirm their polling unit.
  • Participate in voter registration if eligible.
  • Avoid fake candidate screenshots.
  • Wait for the official list before drawing conclusions.
  • Compare party claims with INEC publication.

INEC has received candidate submissions for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, but voters should wait for the official publication of candidate particulars and final lists.

The safest way to check the INEC candidate list 2027 is through www.inecnigeria.org and official INEC announcements.

Until INEC publishes the official list, party announcements should be treated as submissions or claims, not final ballot confirmation.
