The Lagos State Police Command has publicly apologized to #EndSARS activist and popular Nigerian DJ, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known as DJ Switch, following false reports of her arrest on charges of assaulting a police officer in Lagos.
On Thursday, reports circulated in the media claiming that DJ Switch had been arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
VerseNews reports that DJ Switch quickly took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to deny the rumors, stating that she woke up to a flood of phone calls and messages regarding her supposed arrest.
She condemned the reports as false and threatened potential legal action against publishers of the misleading information.
In light of the situation, the Lagos Police issued a clarification and apology for the confusion, acknowledging that the reports were incorrect and originated from a misunderstanding.
The police emphasized that the suspect in question was DJ Commissioner Wysei, not DJ Switch.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, took to his personal X handle (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation and offer an apology to DJ Switch and affected media organizations.
The police command’s apology aims to rectify the mix-up and restore DJ Switch’s reputation following the erroneous reports.

“Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning.
“Apologies to DJ Switch too.”
