Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has revealed that she lost ₦5 million after placing a bet during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, saying the painful experience has convinced her never to gamble again.

The actress made the revelation in a post on her Instagram page shortly after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the World Cup on Sunday.

Sharing her disappointment, Etiko wrote, “First time betting and I lost. Will never try it again. My 5M gone. In fact am done watching football. Anxiety almost killed me.”

Although she did not disclose the exact bet she placed, her earlier Instagram Story posts showed she was strongly backing Argentina to defeat Spain.

Before kickoff, she confidently declared, “Argentina all the way. Who can’t wait?”

As the match unfolded, however, the actress grew frustrated with Argentina’s display, posting, “This ball tough o. Argentina is pissing me off.”

She also praised Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for keeping the defending champions in the game, describing him as “the savior.”

Spain eventually secured a 1-0 victory after substitute Ferran Torres scored in extra time, ending Argentina’s title defence and leaving Etiko nursing a costly loss.
