Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has extended a heartfelt message of encouragement to the Super Eagles following Nigeria’s heartbreaking failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles were eliminated after a tense 1–1 draw over 120 minutes against DR Congo on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, eventually losing 4–3 on penalties. This marks the second consecutive World Cup miss for Nigeria.

He wrote:

“Our dear Super Eagles, I know how deeply yesterday’s outcome weighs on each of you.
When you wear the green and white, you carry the heartbeat of the whole nation, and I acknowledge the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment you put into every match.”

Obi encouraged the team not to let the setback diminish their morale, stressing that great teams are judged by how they respond to adversity.

The former Anambra governor also reassured the players that Nigerians still believe in them.

“Do not let today overshadow the greatness of tomorrow. The Eagle never bows its head; it lifts its wings.
Keep your heads high and stay committed. Nigeria believes in you, and together, we will soar again. Keep soaring, Super Eagles.”
