Possible Shirt Numbers Youri Tielemans Could Wear at Manchester United

• With Bruno Fernandes keeping the No. 8 shirt, Youri Tielemans may have to choose a different jersey if he joins Manchester United. Here are the numbers currently available at Old Trafford.

With Youri Tielemans reportedly closing in on a move to Manchester United, attention has already shifted to the shirt number the Belgian midfielder could wear at Old Trafford.

Tielemans has worn the No. 8 jersey for Belgium since 2018 and has also used the same number during his time at Leicester City and Aston Villa.

However, that number is currently occupied by Bruno Fernandes, making it unavailable if the transfer goes through.

Over the course of his career, Tielemans has also worn several other shirt numbers, including 31 at Anderlecht, 17 at Monaco and 21 during the early stages of his Leicester City career. He has also represented Belgium in shirts numbered 6, 16, 17, 18 and 24.

With No. 8 unavailable, No. 18 could emerge as a strong option following Casemiro’s departure. Fernandes himself previously wore No. 18 before switching to No. 8 in 2022.

Manchester United are not expected to make many more departures this summer, meaning most of the currently assigned squad numbers are likely to remain unchanged.

While Manuel Ugarte was previously linked with an exit, reports suggest the midfielder is now expected to stay after suffering a long-term knee injury during the FIFA World Cup.

If Tielemans completes his move to Old Trafford, one of the available numbers—particularly 18—could become his new identity at the club.
