Shettima Departs Abuja for Sierra Leone to Represent Tinubu at 69th ECOWAS Summit

• Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Sierra Leone to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th ECOWAS Heads of State Summit, where regional leaders will discuss security, democracy, trade and economic integration.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The summit, taking place at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Freetown, will bring together West African presidents, ministers, senior government officials, business leaders and representatives of regional institutions.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima will participate in high-level discussions aimed at shaping the region’s response to pressing political, economic and security challenges.

The meeting is expected to focus on key policy decisions and strategic resolutions designed to strengthen peace, democratic governance, economic growth, regional integration, trade, infrastructure and sustainable development across the ECOWAS sub-region.

The summit also forms part of ECOWAS’ mid-year statutory meetings, where member states assess the implementation of regional programmes and adopt new measures to tackle emerging challenges facing West Africa.

Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his official engagements in Sierra Leone.
