‘They Have Always Been After My Passport’ — Sowore Breaks Silence After Bail

• Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has reacted after being granted ₦200 million bail, declaring that “they have always been after my passport” while insisting that “there is no force on earth that can stop this revolution.”

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted after a Federal High Court in Abuja granted him ₦200 million bail, saying the authorities have “always been after my passport.”

Justice Mohammed Umar admitted Sowore to fresh bail under strict conditions, requiring him to provide two sureties — including a traditional ruler from his community and a property owner in the Federal Capital Territory — and to surrender his international passport to the court.

Despite the ruling, Sowore will remain at the Kuje Correctional Centre until he fulfils the bail conditions.

The activist has been in custody since June 22, 2026, over allegations that he referred to President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal.” He has denied the allegation.

Reacting shortly after the court proceedings, Sowore insisted that the case would not stop his movement or beliefs.

“There is no force on earth that can stop this revolution. We warned them, but they didn’t listen. I was granted ₦200 million bail. They have always been after my passport. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it.”

His comments come after the court restored his bail weeks after revoking an earlier one over his failure to appear for trial.
