- Peter Obi has alleged that there are efforts to stop him from contesting the 2027 presidential election, insisting that those behind the moves will not succeed and challenging President Tinubu and other aspirants to a public debate.

Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has alleged that there are ongoing efforts to prevent him from participating in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State, Obi claimed that powerful forces are working to ensure his name does not appear on the ballot but insisted that such attempts would fail.
“If I tell you about what I am going through today, I won’t be here. Today, everything is being done to ensure that Peter Obi won’t be on the ballot next year. But I tell you, they won’t succeed,” he said.
The former governor said the obstacles facing his political ambition have only strengthened his resolve to pursue the presidency, stressing that true leadership is tested by challenges.
Obi also urged Nigerians, especially young people, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), warning that failing to vote amounts to sacrificing the future.
“If you don’t vote, you are hurting your future,” he said.
Reaffirming his presidential ambition, Obi maintained that his bid is driven by competence and a desire to transform the country, not by ethnic considerations.
“I am contesting the presidential election not because I am an Igbo man, but because I am competent. Of all those contesting for president, I am the most qualified,” he stated.
He further challenged other presidential hopefuls, including President Bola Tinubu, to a public debate on their plans for Nigeria.
“I challenge any of them to a debate, including the incumbent president. I want to change Nigeria,” Obi added.
