  • Former Minister of Interior and ADC National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections.

Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 General Elections, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aregbesola made the statement on Wednesday in Ilorin, Kwara State, while commissioning the ADC’s new state secretariat. The former Governor of Osun State and prominent member of the ADC said his prediction was based on a “careful analysis” of Nigeria’s current political climate.

“If the APC is truly confident in its strength, it wouldn’t need to aggressively hunt down the opposition,” Aregbesola said. “Their actions across Nigeria suggest otherwise, as they are intimidating our members everywhere — from Lagos to Kebbi to Kaduna. If they genuinely believe in their popularity, they would remain calm, but the opposite is true. They know they are not well-liked, and the ADC will benefit from this unpopularity.”

Aregbesola expressed optimism that the ADC is growing stronger across the country, adding that Nigerians are ready for a new political alternative.

“By the grace of God, the ADC will take over leadership in Nigeria and in many states,” he declared. “The governors joining the APC are known enemies of the people, and their presence is unwanted.”

The former minister called on Nigerians to “rise above fear and intimidation” and to “support a party that truly represents the people.”

As of the time of this report, neither the Presidency nor the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to Aregbesola’s comments.
