Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala has said President Bola Tinubu could go down in history as Nigeria’s greatest democratic leader, arguing that very few leaders would have endured the level of pressure and criticism the President has faced since assuming office.

Speaking during a political discussion, Bwala defended Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a calm and tolerant leader despite facing threats, political opposition and international criticism following the implementation of his economic reforms.

According to him, Tinubu remained focused on improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians even when there were calls for military intervention and sustained attacks against his administration.

“Very few leaders will endure what Asiwaju endured,” Bwala said.

He argued that a second term would allow the President to consolidate ongoing reforms, expressing optimism that Nigerians could witness significant improvements, including a higher national minimum wage of up to ₦350,000, stable electricity across the country, expanded access to education and stronger action against kidnapping and insecurity.

Bwala also claimed that Tinubu’s leadership reflects a rare level of political tolerance, alleging that more than 90 percent of those currently working closely with the President had criticised or opposed him at one point.

According to the presidential aide, the President’s willingness to accommodate former critics demonstrates democratic maturity and inclusiveness.

“Today, the same people that pointed accusing fingers at him are the ones around him now… More than 90 percent have attacked him at one time or the other. That is going to run down as the greatest democratic leader we have had in the history of Nigeria,” he said.
