Here are six visa-free destinations, including Senegal, Barbados and The Gambia, along with important travel requirements to know before you go.

Travelling abroad does not always require the hassle of applying for a visa. Thanks to regional agreements and bilateral arrangements, Nigerian passport holders can visit several countries without obtaining a visa before departure.

Although travellers are still expected to carry a valid passport and may be required to provide documents such as proof of accommodation, a return ticket and evidence of sufficient funds, these destinations allow Nigerians to enter without the lengthy visa application process.

Here are six countries Nigerians can visit visa-free:

1. Senegal

Senegal remains one of the easiest countries for Nigerians to visit under the ECOWAS free movement protocol, which allows citizens of member states to travel freely without a visa.

Visitors can explore the vibrant city of Dakar, the historic Gorée Island and the country’s scenic Atlantic coastline. Senegal is also renowned for its rich culture and local cuisine, including its famous thieboudienne, a traditional fish and rice dish.

Its commercial capital, Abidjan, offers modern city life, lively markets and an exciting nightlife, while Yamoussoukro is home to the famous Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, one of the world’s largest churches.

3. Mali

5. The Gambia

Often referred to as the “Smiling Coast of Africa,” The Gambia is another visa-free destination for Nigerian travellers.
