Ibadan Explosion: My Leader, Atiku Has Neither Called Nor Sent Consolation Messages To Me, Gov Makinde Tells Peter Obi
Seyi Makinde has said Atiku Abubakar, is yet to reach out to him over the recent explosion in Ibadan.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has said Atiku Abubakar, is yet to reach out to him over the recent explosion in Ibadan.
VerseNews reports that Makinde, a member of the PDP, made the disclosure when he was visited by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
The governor said that, apart from President Bola Tinubu, who reached out by phone, and Peter Obi, who made a condolence visit, no other major presidential candidate in the 2023 election commiserated with him.
“I want to thank you especially for the visit. Out of the 3 major candidates who contested the 2023 election, only Atiku Abubakar, my own leader and our candidate hasn’t called to commiserate the state,” Makinde said in the video which has gone viral on social media,” Makinde said.
“I am saying this openly so that our leaders will know that we have time for politics and others. I want to thank you once again for coming.”
Ahead of the last general election, Makinde and some other PDP governors known as G5 called on Atiku or the then-National Chairman of the party, Iyiorcha Ayu to step down.
According to the governors, it was not fair on the people of Southern Nigeria for both men – who were northerners – to hold the positions at the time.
Some political analysts have blamed Atiku’s loss at the poll on the political difference with the governors, who reportedly backed the eventual winner of the election, Tinubu of the APC.
