IPOB Directorate of State alleges judicial obstruction in Nnamdi Kanu’s cases, rejects sit-at-home rumours and raises concern over 68 detainees allegedly transferred to different prisons.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), through its Directorate of State (DOS), has announced an immediate boycott of activities associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), while reiterating its demand for the unconditional release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the restoration of Biafra.

The position was contained in the DOS Weekly Address issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026, by Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ, Head of the Fourth Administration of the Directorate of State.

In the address, Nwaọgụ said the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu and the full restoration of Biafra remained the movement’s primary objectives, describing every other issue as secondary.

IPOB Alleges Judicial Obstruction in Nnamdi Kanu’s Cases

The IPOB Directorate of State accused the APC-led Federal Government of undermining the judicial process to prolong Kanu’s detention, citing what it described as two separate acts of judicial obstruction.

According to the statement, a fundamental rights suit concerning Kanu’s alleged 14-month detention without trial following his discharge by the Court of Appeal on October 13, 2022, came up for hearing two weeks before the address. The statement claimed that the presiding judge announced that the court file was missing.

Nwaọgụ described the development as a deliberate attempt to evade accountability for alleged violations of Kanu’s fundamental rights, arguing that a court file relating to such a serious matter should not simply disappear.

The statement also alleged that the Court of Appeal had refused to list Kanu’s separate appeal challenging his conviction by Justice Omotosho on November 20, 2025.

According to IPOB, although the record of appeal had been compiled and transmitted, the matter had not been listed for hearing. The statement further claimed that the state had not filed a respondent’s brief to defend the conviction, which IPOB maintains was based on a repealed law.

Citing Section 36(12) of the Nigerian Constitution, the Directorate argued that no person could validly be convicted of an offence unless a written law in force defined the offence and prescribed a penalty.

It alleged that Justice Omotosho had acknowledged this constitutional principle in open court but disregarded it 16 days later when delivering judgment.

The statement accused the APC-led government of subverting the rule of law and called for the missing court file to be located, Kanu’s appeal to be listed, and the case to be heard publicly.

“A government that hides court files and fears its own Court of Appeal has lost all legal and moral legitimacy,” the statement declared.

IPOB Dismisses Monday Sit-at-Home Rumours, Issues Security Warning

The Directorate of State also dismissed an audio message circulating online that purportedly announced the return of an enforced Monday sit-at-home across Biafraland.

Describing the recording as completely false, IPOB alleged that it was part of an APC-inspired false-flag operation intended to create panic, destabilise the region and expose residents to violence.

The organisation maintained that neither its Directorate of State nor the High Command of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) had ordered or sanctioned an enforced sit-at-home.

It warned that any individual or group caught attempting to enforce an unauthorised sit-at-home would be decisively dealt with, insisting that its objective was to maintain peace and security throughout Biafraland.

The Directorate urged Biafrans at home and in the diaspora to disregard the purported audio message and avoid actions that could provoke unrest.

IPOB Accuses APC of Using Igbo Politicians to Promote Its Agenda

The statement accused the APC-led government of relying on local political figures to convince the Igbo population that Kanu’s conviction marked the end of his legal struggle.

It described some political leaders as compromised actors and cited alleged incidents involving Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who the statement claimed was locked outside an Aso Rock meeting, and former Ebonyi State Governor and current Minister of Works Dave Umahi, whose microphone it alleged was seized in Kaduna.

IPOB presented the incidents as evidence of what it called the humiliation and lack of honour suffered by Igbo political leaders associated with the ruling party.

The Directorate also predicted that Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo would face political humiliation, drawing a comparison with former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha.

According to the statement, Okorocha was used and subsequently humiliated by the APC after years of service when he abandoned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the ruling party.

IPOB Rejects Political Compromise, Explains Election Boycott Position

The Directorate reiterated that IPOB remained strictly non-partisan but accused unnamed advisers to President Bola Tinubu and the British government of pursuing a calculated political strategy involving Kanu’s appeal.

According to the statement, those allegedly advising the Nigerian President and the British government to withhold the listing of Kanu’s appeal hoped to provoke an election boycott in the South-East and South-South, thereby reducing voter participation in the regions.

IPOB described the alleged strategy as a miscalculation.

The organisation stressed that its proposed election boycott was not intended to benefit any Nigerian political party or politician but was instead a response to what it characterised as systemic injustice and state-sponsored illegality.

It reaffirmed that its decision to boycott the 2027 general elections remained in place.

IPOB Directs Immediate Boycott of APC Activities

As the first phase of its political disengagement, the Directorate announced an immediate boycott of everything associated with the APC.

It accused the ruling party of responsibility for Operation Python Dance, extrajudicial killings, illegal detentions and what it described as kangaroo convictions in Biafraland.

The operational directives issued to Biafrans include:

Staying away from APC rallies.

Refraining from carrying APC flags.

Stopping the defence of APC governors.

Denying the ruling party any form of political legitimacy.

The statement argued that the APC’s alleged anti-Biafra agenda was clear and warned that Biafrans or other Igbo people who identified with or campaigned for the party were aligning themselves with an organisation it accused of bringing death and suffering to their communities.

These assertions represent IPOB’s position as expressed in the weekly address.

IPOB Accuses Federal Government of Selective Prosecution and State Violence

The Directorate used the address to renew its allegations of state repression against Biafrans, citing Operation Python Dance, insecurity, Kanu’s detention and the imprisonment of thousands of people at Wawa Barracks.

It also accused the authorities of operating Tiger Base as a “slaughterhouse,” alleging that the facility had been associated with serious abuses.

The statement further alleged that the Nigerian state applied double standards in its approach to security and criminal justice.

According to IPOB, peaceful Biafrans were being criminalised and handed 20-year prison sentences for asserting their identity, while Fulani bandits whom it described as bloodthirsty and unproscribed continued to operate with impunity.

The Directorate presented these allegations as evidence of what it considers selective prosecution and unequal treatment under the law.

IPOB Says 68 Detainees Were Transferred to Three Prisons

In another major update, the Directorate disclosed that its legal team had identified 68 Biafrans whom it described as innocent and alleged had been secretly transferred from Wawa Barracks to Kuje, Keffi and Suleja prisons.

According to the statement, the legal team was working to secure their release despite what IPOB described as an enormous legal workload.

Nwaọgụ called on Biafrans to provide active support for the organisation’s legal team and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

He also urged supporters to sustain IPOB’s international desks in Jerusalem, Washington and Brussels and provide for the welfare of political detainees.

The statement described legal representation, support for the ESN, international advocacy and detainee welfare as essential components of the organisation’s ongoing efforts.

IPOB Calls for Discipline and Reaffirms Kanu’s Release Demand

Concluding the address, Nwaọgụ urged Biafrans to remain disciplined, organised and focused on the movement’s objectives.

He warned supporters against being provoked into violence, falling for fabricated audio messages or allowing politicians to take control of the proposed election boycott.

The Directorate reaffirmed its position that IPOB had one family, one command and one Supreme Leader, identifying that leader as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

It concluded by demanding Kanu’s immediate and unconditional release and calling on the judiciary to locate the missing court file, list his appeal and allow the law to take its course.

The address was signed by Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ, Head of the Fourth Administration of the Directorate of State (DOS), Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the closing declaration: “In Defence of Freedom.”
