Kannywood actress, Amal Umar has been arraigned before a magistrate court in Kano state for allegedly bribing a police officer.

Mohammed said the actress allegedly offered the sum of N250,000 to a police officer.

He said she offered the bribe in exchange for her car which was seized by the police after she admitted that her boyfriend transferred some of the money into her account.

He said the police, in their investigation, discovered that Inuwa transferred N13 million to the actress.

Mohammed said the actress confessed to having used some of the money to purchase the vehicle.

The actress was also said to have confessed that the money in her bank account belonged to her boyfriend but claimed that he only transferred N8 million to her.

Umar was, however, released on bail but was not allowed to leave in the car purchased by her boyfriend.

Mohammed said this led her to offer a bribe in exchange for the vehicle.

“On the 18th of August 2022, a petition was received by the AIG Zone One Headquarters on behalf of one Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, the complainant who was defrauded of the sum of N40 million by one Ramadan Inuwa who collected the money under false pretense of a phone business and absconded,” the statement reads.

“On the 19th of March 2024, Police from Zone One headquarters attached to the zonal intelligence department arraigned one Amal Umar in the court of law for offering gratification to the tune of N250k to police officer ASP Salusi Kujama who was investigating a case of fraud against her boyfriend.

“She started soliciting that the police should release her car but she was denied, hence she started a discussion that she would pay some money as a bribe to the police to secure the release of her car.

“Based on that she brought the sum of N250k upon which she was arrested and charged to court for offering gratification to a public officer.”
