Ese Brume has won GOLD in the women’s Long Jump at the African Games, flying to a first-round 6.92m to nail the win and defend her title from 2019.
Nigeria’s Ese Brume soared to victory in the women’s long jump event at the African Games, setting a new record of 6.92 meters to retain her title in Accra, Ghana’s capital, on Thursday night.
Brume, who previously triumphed in 2019 in Rabat, Morocco, showcased her exceptional form once again.
Her impressive first attempt secured the gold medal, while her compatriot Prestina Ochonogor clinched bronze with a jump of 6.67 meters.
Burkina Faso’s Koala Marthe secured the bronze medal. However, it was a tough night for Nigeria’s Ruth Usoro, who finished fourth with a jump of 6.62 meters.
Nigeria’s success extended beyond the long jump event. Obiageri Amachi claimed gold in the discus throw, achieving a personal best of 58.93 meters on her final throw. Her compatriot Chioma Onyekwere secured the silver medal.
In the women’s heptathlon, Kemi Francis-Petersen earned a silver medal with 5268 points, narrowly trailing behind Ahouanwanou Odile of Benin Republic.
