FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has urged Nigerians to reject the ADC-led coalition ahead of 2027, calling them “naysayers and unpatriotic.”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to “resist the purveyors of lies, hate and division” converging under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, describing them as “naysayers and unpatriotic.”

Speaking during the 35th Combined Convocation and 50th Anniversary of the University of Port Harcourt, where he was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree in Political Science, Wike alleged the coalition’s only goal is to wrest power from President Bola Tinubu in 2027 without any proven track record of leadership.

He defended Tinubu’s “painful but necessary decisions” since assuming office, citing the steady drop in fuel prices and economic reforms already yielding positive results. He urged Nigerians to support the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly praising initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

“Our country is undoubtedly on the path of positive ascendency and very soon, the impact will be visible even to the blind and obvious even to the cynically minded,” Wike said.

Slamming members of the coalition, Wike accused them of having “nothing concrete to show” despite holding office for years. He said, “In only two years of this administration, they are congregating to destroy rather than build… They have been active dramatis personae in the willful destruction of our politics and economy.”

He called on Nigerians to “reject them and their unpatriotic drum beats of division and failed propaganda.”

On his alma mater, UNIPORT, Wike expressed gratitude and commitment, noting his efforts as former Minister of State for Education and Governor of Rivers State contributed to establishing the university’s Faculty of Law and its accompanying infrastructure.

“It is in the light of the foregoing that I have always strongly believed that every alumnus should give back to the university as a mark of pure gratitude,” he stated.
