The driver of the BRT bus, Oluwaseun Osinbajo conveying Lagos State Government Staff that collided with a train at the Ikeja railway line, on the Agege Motor Road, Lagos, has confessed that the bus had a mechanical fault which led the the tragic accident.
Verse News Nigeria reports that the 44-year-old man while making the confession begged for forgiveness from victims of the accident.
“It was not my fault. How could I have ignored warning signs? The bus had a mechanical fault.
“It is a pity this has happened. I beg everyone affected to please forgive me in the name of God,” he said.

According to reports made available to this Online News Media, the passengers begged the driver to wait for the train to pass, but he ignored their plead and attempted to overtake the train which resulted to a fatal collision.
This Online News Media reported that the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi said a total number of 102 passengers were recorded in the accident; six persons have been confirmed dead.
Abayomi in a recent report said 32 victims have been discharged while others in the hospital are presently in stable medical condition.
However, the police said the report of the medical tests, among which was a blood sample to ascertain if the driver was on drugs or mentally fit, was yet to be out as of the time of filing this report.
