The Federal Government has officially fulfilled its reward package for members of the Super Falcons, presenting the team with the houses and confirming the payment of the $100,000 cash reward promised after their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The presentation took place in Rabat, Morocco, on Tuesday, just hours before Nigeria’s opening Group C match against Malawi at the 2026 WAFCON, where the defending champions begin their quest for a record-extending 11th continental title.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the development in a post on its official X account.

“NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF GS Mohammed Sanusi on Tuesday presented the 2025 WAFCON triumph rewards promised by the FGN to the Super Falcons,” the federation stated.

As part of the reward package announced by President Bola Tinubu following Nigeria’s 2025 WAFCON victory, each player has received $100,000, which has already been paid into their individual bank accounts.

The players were also presented with the keys to their three-bedroom apartments under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Estate scheme.

Members of the team’s technical crew are also expected to receive their rewards.

President Tinubu had announced the incentives shortly after the Super Falcons captured the 2025 WAFCON title, alongside the conferment of national honours on the players and officials.

However, the presentation of the houses was delayed for about a year due to administrative processes.

Last week, National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Shehu Dikko explained that the government deliberately scheduled the presentation to coincide with the team’s gathering for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco.

“I am leaving Glasgow for Morocco this week to present keys to the houses, which His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, promised the Super Falcons after they won the last edition of the WAFCON. Even their $100,000 has been paid into their various bank accounts,” Dikko said.

He added that the timing was intended to boost the players’ morale ahead of the tournament.

“We decided to delay the presentation of the keys because we wanted a situation whereby the players would be together. I am sure it will boost their morale ahead of the 2026 WAFCON.”

Dikko also confirmed that the payment of the cash rewards was completed after all necessary administrative procedures were finalized.

The Super Falcons head into the 2026 tournament as defending champions and Africa’s most successful women’s national team with 10 WAFCON titles.

Nigeria will open their campaign against Malawi before taking on Zambia and Egypt in their remaining Group C fixtures.

The tournament, running from July 26 to August 16 in Morocco, also serves as Africa’s qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic qualification while another team will compete in the intercontinental play-offs.
