UK Court Fixes Date To Sentence Ekweremdu, Wife, Doctor
Justice Jeremy Johnson have fixed May 5 2023, to pass entence on former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwerendu, his wife, Beatrice and their doctor, Obinna Obeta in United Kigdom (UK.
Versenews Nigeria reported that that Ekweremdu and his wife were arrested for conspiracy to harvest the organs of a boy who they claimed was 21-year-old but was found to be 15-year-old by the prosecutor.
In a court ruling on Thursday, Ekweremadu, 60; his wife, Beatrice, 56; and Dr Obinna Obeta, 51,were found guilty of facilitating the travel of a young man to Britain with a view to his exploitation after a six-week trial at the Old Bailey.
The court cleared their daughter, Sonia.

The prosecutor, Hugh Davies KC during the court ruling said Ekeremdu’s act was inhuman on the ground that he (Ekweremdu) used the circumstances of poverty to ruin the boy’s life.
Obeta denied the charge, claimed the Lagos boy was not offered a reward for his kidney and showing an unselfish concern for the welfare.
Beatrice denied any knowledge of the alleged conspiracy while Sonia did not give evidence.
