Hoodlums in Niger attacked and set ablaze the Nigerian Embassy in Niger on Friday morning.
This comes barely 24 hours after member states of the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS), ordered its military force to be on standby to restore democracy to Niger Republic following a successful coup the military junta in the country.
In a video sent to VerseNews on Friday, the whole building of the Nigerian Embassy in the West African country was set ablaze by some residents in the country who perhaps were against the sanctions of the ECOWAS following the take over of power by the military.
Recall on Thursday, the ECOWAS during its Extraordinary meeting in Abuja “directed the committee of the Chief of Defence Staff to activate the ECOWAS stand-by force with all its elements immediately.
“Ordered the deployment of the ECOWAS stand-by force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.
“Underscored its continued commitment to the restoration of constitutional order through peaceful means.”
