Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed his perspective on the #JusticeforMohbad movement in Nigeria:

VerseNews reports that Omokri argues that many Nigerians participating in the #JusticeforMohbad movement are not seeking genuine justice but are instead focused on mob action.

He believes that the movement is not interested in a thorough investigation and holding the ‘real’ culprits accountable; instead, they want swift punishment for specific individuals they dislike, as already labeled by the media.

Omokri expresses sympathy for the Nigeria Police Force, suggesting that, at this point, nothing they do will satisfy the movement, as their focus is solely on specific individuals they believe should be held responsible for the controversial death of the former Marlian signee, Mohbad.

He points out that if the police’s findings do not align with what the movement expects, they will contest the results and accuse the police of bias and bribery.

Omokri emphasizes that the movement’s version of “Justice for MohBad” seems to be limited to punishing specific individuals, rather than conducting a fair and comprehensive investigation.

In his words; “Many Nigerians actually do not want #JusticeForMohBad. What they want is mob Justice against identified people they don’t like. To them, Justice For MohBad means that it just must be a certain person or persons.

“I am really feeling sorry for the @PoliceNG. If their report clears certain persons, some people will insist they have been bribed or otherwise compromised. They don’t want an investigation. They want an inquisition.”
