The body of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, the Delta State woman who died after accusing a social media content creator of rape, has been exhumed for an autopsy as authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The exhumation took place on Tuesday as part of the ongoing probe into the case involving Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, who was previously arrested over the rape allegation.

Human rights activist Israel Joe disclosed the development in a statement shared on his social media page, revealing that the post-mortem examination was conducted by investigators and qualified pathologists.

According to him, the autopsy was carried out in the presence of all relevant parties, including legal representatives of the suspect.

Joe explained that he and another activist had earlier travelled to Agbaro in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, where Favour was buried, to monitor preparations for the exercise.

He said they met with the deceased’s father and other members of the family, who supervised arrangements for the exhumation before the autopsy was conducted.

Emotional Scene at Graveside

The activist described an emotional moment during the exercise when Favour’s twin sister requested permission to place food at the graveside before the body was exhumed.

According to Joe, the grieving sister brought bread and sardines, saying her late twin had appeared to her in a dream asking for food.

He added that the exercise was marked by grief as family members and supporters mourned the young woman.

Joe also thanked members of the public for their support and solidarity with the deceased’s family, assuring that efforts to ensure justice would continue.

“We wish to thank everyone for their support towards the investigations and solidarity towards the family at this grievous time. We shall follow up until justice is manifestly seen to have been done,” he said.

Before her death, Favour accused Ifeanyi Ogbonna, a 44-year-old content creator, of luring her to a hotel in Asaba, Delta State, under the pretext of offering financial assistance before allegedly sexually assaulting her.

In a video that later circulated widely on social media, she alleged that the suspect assaulted her and made remarks about taking her virginity.

The Delta State Police Command subsequently announced the arrest of the suspect following the allegations.
