The House of Representatives Committee investigating the operations of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce the organisation’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeyemi Adeniyi, before lawmakers on Wednesday.

The directive was issued on Monday during the committee’s resumed investigative hearing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi appeared before the committee and was instructed to ensure Adeyemi’s appearance by noon on Wednesday to assist lawmakers with the ongoing probe.

The committee is investigating how the PFIPC, which lawmakers say was never legally established, allegedly secured office space in the Federal Secretariat Complex and received a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi said Adeyemi’s appearance had become necessary because of the serious allegations involving forged government documents and the integrity of key national institutions.

“This committee clearly needs the suspected DG to appear before this committee. People’s names are involved. Institutional integrity is involved. It is no longer optional,” Gagdi said.

The committee subsequently ordered its clerk to formally notify the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi before lawmakers by 12 noon on Wednesday.

During the hearing, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed that it had already filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi at the Federal High Court over allegations linked to the case.

Police also confirmed receiving petitions from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President alleging that Adeyemi falsely presented himself as the Director-General of both the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Investigators further told lawmakers that Adeyemi allegedly used the purported office to obtain accommodation at the Federal Secretariat, sought approval to recruit about 300 personnel, attempted to secure a $1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget and planned to organise a World Investment Summit under the platform of the alleged agency.

One of the major moments during the hearing came when police confirmed that signatures on documents allegedly issued from the Office of the Chief of Staff did not match authentic State House records.

Lawmakers disclosed that investigators had identified about 29 allegedly forged documents linked to the case, including purported approvals from the State House, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Ministry of Finance and other federal institutions.

The committee said its investigation would continue independently while awaiting Adeyemi’s appearance.
