Enugu Air Officially Launches Domestic Flight Services Across Nigeria [PHOTOS]
Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, who commissioned the airline, assured that the federal government will fully support the success of the new airline.
Enugu State has officially launched its own commercial airline, Enugu Air, becoming the third state in Nigeria to venture into the aviation sector.
The ceremonial inaugural flight landed on Monday at the newly upgraded international wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, arriving from Lagos. The flight was captained by Enugu-born pilot, Captain Kelechi Ossai, and marked the beginning of operations for a fleet that currently includes three Embraer jets.

He also disclosed that approvals are underway for regional routes from Enugu and defended the federal decision to concession the Akanu Ibiam airport, describing it as necessary for development.

Governor Peter Mbah emphasized that the airline is a strategic economic tool, not just an infrastructure achievement. He said Enugu Air will initially operate a triangular route linking Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos, with plans to expand to other major cities such as Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano, and eventually begin international flights.
