Controversial social media commentator, VeryDarkman, has revealed that he was directly involved in the arrest of activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who is currently being held in police custody in Benin, Edo State.

In a Facebook video posted on Friday, he confirmed that Gwamnishu was arrested on Thursday night, stating that he personally contacted the police after receiving information about a situation involving the activist in Auchi.

According to him, he had initially advised some individuals not to publicise the issue, but a video later surfaced online, prompting him to react.

He explained that one of the people who shared the video claimed he did so to defend himself against allegations linking him to the case.

VeryDarkman criticised Gwamnishu’s online response, describing it as an attempt to manipulate public sentiment despite knowing what had happened.

He added that although police officers instructed those present not to record, someone still managed to capture a short clip showing Gwamnishu returning money connected to the case. He also claimed that Gwamnishu’s truck is currently being held at a police station in Edo State.

Dismissing suggestions that his actions were motivated by jealousy, the critic said he intervened because he believed the truth needed to be upheld.

“So, Harrison Gwamnishu is in police custody in Benin, Edo State. He was arrested yesterday night. In all honesty, I initiated the call that led to his arrest. I did,” he said.

He continued:
“I made that call, and when he comes out, I hope he would come and tell the public truth. As for the money, whether he took it or not, this is a video when he returned the money.”
