The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened its recruitment portal for the 2026 employment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to the commission, the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will remain open until Monday, July 27, 2026.
INEC said the recruitment is part of efforts to strengthen its workforce in electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management to improve the delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.
The commission stressed that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and warned applicants against paying money to anyone or submitting false information, noting that offenders will be disqualified and may face prosecution.
Available Positions
The vacancies are grouped into three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
Available positions include:
- Accountant
- Clinical Officer
- Lawyer
- ICT Officer
- Engineer
- Quantity Surveyor
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant field. Some positions may also require a Master’s degree, relevant professional certifications (such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN), at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong ICT, communication and analytical skills.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences.
Candidates are also expected to have an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, as well as good knowledge of data management, record keeping and Microsoft Office applications.
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07
Applicants must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution and demonstrate good computer, communication and organisational skills.
General Requirements
INEC said applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens.
- Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the Chairman or Secretary of their Local Government.
- Be medically fit and certified by a government medical officer.
- Not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
- Have no criminal conviction.
- Be willing to work in any part of Nigeria.
- Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
How to Apply for INEC Recruitment 2026
Interested applicants should follow these steps:
- Visit the official INEC recruitment portal.
- Create an applicant account using your personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).
- Verify your email address.
- Log in to your account.
- Select your preferred cadre and position.
- Upload all required documents, including:
- Passport photograph
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- O’Level result
- Degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate (where applicable)
- Local Government Identification Certificate
- NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate (where applicable)
- Review your application carefully before submitting it.
INEC noted that applicants cannot change their selected position after submission, urging candidates to ensure all information provided is accurate before completing the application.
The commission added that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
