However, according to recent reports on Moniepoint Inc., in 2023, the company’s valuation soared, processing average monthly transactions valued at $12 billion as more businesses in Nigeria embrace digital payments, reflecting its growing influence in the payments landscape.

The Acting Managing Director of Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, Babatunde Olofin, in a discussion with journalists in Lagos, attested that the cash scarcity that occurred in the early months of 2023 pushed more businesses and individuals to go cashless.

Olofin further disclosed that the fintech company (Moniepoint), which recently announced its entry into personal banking after being on the business side of digital financial services for years, is now recording an average of 400 million transactions monthly.

In his words, Moniepoint now provides services to more than 1.6 million businesses. In its venture into personal banking, the fintech aims to serve at least 4.8 million retail clients in the first quarter.
