Rudeboy Declares Himself ‘Nobody’ Without Igbo Culture Days After Mr P’s ‘Nigerian Languages Are Useless’ Comment

• Rudeboy has declared his pride in Nigerian and Igbo culture just days after his twin brother, Mr P, faced backlash for calling Nigerian languages “useless,” sparking fresh reactions over the brothers’ public rivalry.

Singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has publicly celebrated his Nigerian and Igbo heritage days after his twin brother, Peter Okoye (Mr P), came under fire for describing Nigerian languages as “useless.”

In a post shared on his X account, Rudeboy declared that his identity is deeply rooted in his culture and native language, while sharing a clip from his Igbo song, Nkenji Keke, which showcases traditional Igbo attire, culture and language.

“I’m a ‘nobody’ I repeat!! a nobody!! without the culture, native language, the pride of a Nigerian. 100% proudly Nigerian. 100% proudly Igbo,” he wrote.

The post quickly sparked reactions online, with many social media users interpreting it as a subtle response to Mr P’s controversial remarks about Nigerian languages.

Some fans praised Rudeboy for proudly embracing his roots, while others accused him of indirectly taking a swipe at his twin brother.

An X user, @RodimCFC, wrote, “This subtle shade is wrong btw. It’s the kids who learnt French & have nothing to do with losing identity, culture or language.”

Another user, @Silencer, commented, “How low can you go with your brother? Even though I believe that he goofed with his statement, this your post reeks of validation at the expense of your twin.”

Similarly, @RamseyBee wrote, “This rivalry is crazy. You waited for your brother to misyarn and you bank on it for public validation.”

However, others defended Rudeboy, arguing that he was merely expressing his cultural pride.

The debate follows the backlash Mr P received after claiming that Nigerian languages offer little value in creating opportunities, a statement that sparked widespread criticism online.

Rudeboy and Mr P rose to fame as the iconic music duo P-Square before parting ways following years of public disagreements over family, management and business issues. Both have since continued their music careers as solo artists.
