VIDEO: Husband of Rescued Oyo Principal Dances in Church During Thanksgiving Service

• The husband of rescued Oyo principal Rachael Alamu has melted hearts after breaking into a joyful dance during a thanksgiving service celebrating her safe return from more than 50 days in kidnappers’ captivity.

An emotional scene unfolded in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as Professor Alamu, husband of rescued school principal Mrs. Rachael Alamu, broke into a joyful dance during a thanksgiving service to celebrate her safe return from captivity.

A video shared by Oyo Matters captured the professor dancing with church members as they sang “Hallelujah”, giving thanks to God for the successful rescue of his wife and other abducted pupils and teachers after spending weeks in the hands of kidnappers.

Mrs. Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School, was among dozens of pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen during an attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.

The victims spent more than 50 days in captivity before security agencies secured their freedom in an intelligence-led rescue operation announced by the Federal Government on Friday.

On Saturday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued victims at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support ahead of their formal handover to the state government.

The thanksgiving service marked one of the family’s first public celebrations since Mrs. Alamu regained her freedom.

The emotional video has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians celebrating the family’s reunion and offering prayers for the full recovery of all the rescued victims.
