The German Football Association (DFB) has responded to reports suggesting they have engaged in discussions with Jurgen Klopp regarding the possibility of him becoming the national team’s manager.

Klopp privately informed the Liverpool board in November that he would step down as the club’s manager at the end of the season, with this news being made public toward the end of January. He cited fatigue as the primary reason for his decision.

Reports in Germany have suggested that Klopp could potentially take over as the manager of the national team after Euro 2024, once Julian Nagelsmann’s short-term contract expires.

In an interview with German magazine Focus, Andreas Rettig, the managing director of the German Football Association (DFB), denied the reports suggesting that Jurgen Klopp could become the manager of the national team after Euro 2024.

“There has been no contact. He has given himself a break. I don’t know whether we should be giving him travel tips on how to enjoy his free time,” he said. “He wants a break and that’s why it is not an issue.”

Since announcing his departure from Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has been linked with several roles, but he has emphasized that he will not manage in England again and is unlikely to return to coaching until at least 2025.

Last week, the Mail reported that Klopp has been identified as a top target for UK broadcasters BBC and ITV to serve as a leading pundit for their Euro 2024 coverage.

However, it is expected that Klopp will decline their offers and instead attend the championships as a fan, as he has already purchased tickets to Germany’s three group stage matches.

Liverpool is currently in the process of searching for a replacement for Jurgen Klopp as their manager. However, they are prioritizing the appointment of a new sporting director before finalizing the managerial selection.

Former sporting director Michael Edwards is expected to return to the club in a more significant role than before, while Richard Hughes is considered a top candidate for the sporting director position.
