Joshua’s reaction have sparked controversies among Nigerian fans and social media users.

According an X user (formerly Twitter) named Obiasogu David, Joshua’s reaction is a payback and lesson for Nigerians for trolling him on social media when he lost WBA, WBO and IBF belts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

“Probably, this would teach Nigerians a lesson to stick to their “own” through thick and thin. After losing his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, many Nigerians trolled the h£ll out of him on social media. Many of the big celebs looked away and showed no solidarity.”

“Joshua most certainly would have realized that Nigerians are pretentious and not genuinely supportive. They only use his name to trend and chase clout, when he wins. Same thing happened to Alex Iwobi and Osimhen, both trolled when they had their down moments.

“I only feel sorry for a few Nigerians who are genuinely supportive regardless of the turn of fortune.”

“Like seriously. We only love our own when they win. Even before this fight many Nigerians wrote him off, he sow all those stuffs. I love him for this. Even Israel and kamaru would do same thing. This country is full of haters. Absolutely when he’s not your tribe they troll.” another X user ODG wrote.

The British-Nigerian boxer whose mother is Nigerian, while his father is of Nigerian and Irish ancestry reportedly brought out the British flag after the fight.
