Dakolo, a former church chorister, responded by pointing out that Lazarus runs a ministry school that charges $150 per student. He questioned why the school isn’t free if it is truly for God’s glory.

Earlier, Dakolo had also criticized pastors for undervaluing Nigerian gospel singers while paying foreign artistes significantly more. He argued that singing is a skill that takes years to develop and should be properly compensated.
