Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, has raised the alarm over threats to her life and that of her family, linking them to her outspoken political stance during Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
The actress, whose Lagos fashion store was recently gutted by fire, also connected the incident to her consistent calls for justice in the controversial death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Ojo made her position known in a lengthy Instagram post, reacting to a video showing a group of men protesting against her. In the footage, the men were seen chanting death wishes and accusing her of obstructing justice in the case of Mohbad.
The actress, however, denied the allegations, explaining that she never accused anyone of being responsible for the singer’s death.

“I am fully aware that because of my political opinions during the last elections, I have been subjected to intimidation, sponsored attacks, and personal insults. However, those views were honest personal expressions, which I strongly believe should not result in vendettas or attacks from any individual or group of persons,” she wrote.
Iyabo Ojo explained that her comments about Mohbad’s death were emotional reactions to the disturbing videos that had gone viral shortly after the singer’s demise, and that her only demand was for a proper and transparent investigation.
“Without an iota of doubt, I have recently found comfort in the scriptures, which state that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God will deliver me from them all,” she added.
Since the fire incident and the protest video surfaced, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express solidarity with Ojo, while others are calling for government authorities to ensure her safety and investigate the threats made against her.
