Opeyemi Bamidele, the majority leader of the Senate, has announced that the federal government will pursue and punish those sabotaging the country’s economy.

VerseNews reports that speaking in Ado Ekiti, Bamidele emphasized that economic saboteurs making life difficult for Nigerians will face charges, prosecution, and punishment in the coming year.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to passing the 2024 budget swiftly, aiming for it to be at the President’s desk for assent on January 1, 2024.

Additionally, Bamidele mentioned plans for substantial investments in agriculture and efforts to harness the potential of solid minerals.

He supported the removal of petrol subsidy, stating that it benefits only a few.

“All these will take place next year. In the long run, those who mopped up the Naira and Dollars from the markets will face the consequences of their actions. Those who mopped up the Dollars to keep commodity prices will definitely not escape justice.

“Those who are speculating are also on the watch list of the federal government. At some points, the federal government will have to go after them,” the senate leader revealed.
