The Federal Government announced the temporary closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos to perform repair works.
VerseNews reports that the closure will begin at midnight on Saturday, October 21, and continue until midnight on Sunday, October 22.
This decision was made to carry out comprehensive repairs on the bridge, focusing initially on critical portions.
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, mentioned that palliative works would be conducted on the most critically affected sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, October 22, as a preparatory measure for the comprehensive repair works.
She urged motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials, follow diversions, and consider alternative routes during the temporary closure.
The Adeniji bound carriageway will be closed from Saturday, October 21, to Sunday, October 22, starting at midnight.
“However, in order to alleviate the pains currently being experienced on the bridge, the Ministry would be carrying out palliative works on the most critically failed sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, Oct. 22 preparatory to the comprehensive repair works.”
“However, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible during the period of the palliative works as the Adeniji bound of the bridge will be closed to traffic from Saturday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, 22nd 12.00 midnight,” she said.
