JUST IN: Tribunal Affirms Caleb Mutfwang’s Election As Plateau Governor
The Tribunal, in its judgment, dismissed Goshwe’s petition for lacking merit.
The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, situated in Jos, has dismissed a petition filed by Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
VerseNews reports that Goshwe contested the election of Caleb Mutfwang from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of the state, alleging that Mutfwang was not qualified to run at the time of the election.
Goshwe’s petition claimed that Mutfwang was not validly nominated by the PDP because the party lacked a proper structure.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mutfwang the winner of the March 18 governorship election, with 525,299 votes, while Goshwe received 481,370 votes.
The Tribunal, in its judgment, dismissed Goshwe’s petition for lacking merit.
Earlier, the Tribunal also dismissed a petition by Alfred Dabwan, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), against Mutfwang’s election.
