Lagos State University (LASU) has ordered all students to vacate hostels and suspended all academic activities, including the second semester exams, following a strike by staff unions.

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has ordered all students residing in its hostels to vacate the premises, following the ongoing strike by university staff unions.

In an official statement released by Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, the directive takes effect from Sunday, August 4.

The decision was made during a virtual Senate meeting held on Saturday, where the university reviewed the status of the strike action which began on July 31.

The industrial action involves all key unions under the Joint Action Committee (JAC), including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).
