A leaked memo has revealed that FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was duly invited to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) NEC meeting, contradicting his public claim that no notice was served on him.

A leaked document has revealed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, may have misled the public in his claim that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to invite him to its proposed elective convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Wike, in a recent Channels Television interview, had vowed to challenge the plan, describing it as “injustice.” He maintained that, as a National Executive Committee (NEC) member, he never received a formal notice of the meeting.

“I am not aware that they are going for a convention in Ibadan. As a NEC member, I have not been told, and nobody has invited me for a NEC meeting. If no notice of meeting has been served on me, I have every right to challenge that,” Wike declared.

But a leaked letter dated July 10, 2025, signed by PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, showed otherwise. The letter, addressed to Wike on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), formally invited him to a NEC meeting scheduled for July 24, 2025, at Wadata Plaza, Abuja. Records confirmed the letter was received, stamped, and signed by Wike’s office on July 18, 2025.

Meanwhile, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, insisted that worsening economic hardship under the APC would be a decisive factor in the 2027 elections, stressing that Nigerians had become “wiser” and would not return the ruling party to power.

In another development, a coalition of young female traders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has urged former presidential aspirant, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, to join the 2027 race following his return to the PDP.

The traders, led by Murjanatu Idris, argued that zoning had done little to strengthen democracy, insisting that Nigeria needed “fresh energy, vision, and sincerity of purpose.” They described Olawepo-Hashim as a younger voice among political stalwarts who fought for Nigeria’s democracy and praised his “depth, patriotism, and vision for the future.”

The group further disclosed plans to formally endorse him as their preferred candidate by September 2025, pledging that their endorsement would be “public and emphatic.”
