The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has strongly criticized the reported restriction on Christian preaching in public buses, warning that such a policy could lead to unrest if not reversed.

Speaking during a church service, the cleric argued that Christians should enjoy the same freedom of worship as Muslims, insisting that no religion should be singled out for restrictions.

Describing the policy as a “stupid law,” Ibiyeomie questioned why Christians would be stopped from preaching when Muslims are allowed to use loudspeakers and microphones for religious activities.

“Since we allowed the Muslims to put microphones, nobody shouted. Christians will preach. If you say Christians shouldn’t preach, then they go their way and we go our way,” he said.

The outspoken preacher also accused some Christian leaders of remaining silent because they had allegedly been compromised.

“Most of them can’t talk because they’ve taken money from the leaders. Ask your president if I’ve taken one naira from him so I can talk,” he stated.

Ibiyeomie lamented the country’s economic situation, saying Nigerians are facing severe hardship while many religious and political leaders have chosen not to speak out.

“This is the hardest time in Nigeria. People are in hardship, yet everybody is keeping quiet. During Jonathan’s time, they were shouting. You cannot compare Jonathan’s time and now,” he said.

The pastor warned against what he described as policies targeting Christianity, cautioning that such actions could have serious consequences.

“They should not promote such laws if they don’t want chaos in Nigeria. Otherwise, some of us will rise up and take it by force,” he said.

He also questioned why lawmakers were focusing on restricting Christian preaching instead of tackling more pressing national challenges such as insecurity, terrorism, the killing of Nigerians in South Africa, hunger and economic hardship.

Ibiyeomie further alleged that there were efforts to turn Nigeria into an Islamic nation but maintained that such attempts would not succeed.

“They want to turn Nigeria into an Islamic nation. Some people think I’m joking. It’s coming, but it can never be. Nigeria will never be an Islamic nation. If you want peace as one Nigeria, practice your religion and let us practice our Christianity,” he added.

The pastor’s remarks have since sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions over religious freedom, public preaching and the role of government in regulating religious activities.
