Several players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reportedly fallen victim to theft while in camp ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The players are said to have discovered that money was missing from their wallets after returning to their hotel rooms, where they are staying as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the continental tournament.

The Super Falcons are currently lodged at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, where the team is undergoing final preparations before the start of the competition.

According to reports, some members of the squad found cash missing from their personal belongings while they were away from their rooms.

Among the affected players is Esther Okoronkwo, who reportedly lost $700. Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade is also said to have lost $200, while Osinachi Ohale reportedly lost $100.

Others affected include Joy Omewa, who allegedly lost $120, and Halimatu Ayinde, who reportedly lost $100.

In total, the affected players are said to have lost $1,220, estimated at about ₦1.7 million.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm whether an investigation has been launched.

The Super Falcons recently arrived in Casablanca for the final phase of their preparations ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with the entire squad now in camp as head coach Justine Madugu intensifies training for the tournament.

As defending champions, Nigeria will travel to Rabat for their opening Group C match against Malawi. The Super Falcons will also face Zambia and Egypt in the group stage as they seek to win another continental title.
