UNIPORT - Killed Python

UNIPORT has dismissed viral social media claims that students killed a huge python allegedly regarded as a deity on campus, calling the reports “entirely false and baseless.”

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has refuted social media reports claiming that students killed a huge python, allegedly regarded as a deity, on its campus.

In a statement on Wednesday, the university’s Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations, Dr. Sammy Kpenu, described the story as “entirely false, baseless, and a figment of the imagination of mischief-makers.”

He clarified that no snake was seen or killed in any classroom, adding that the rumour was deliberately circulated to cause panic among students.

“The attention of the University of Port Harcourt Management has been drawn to unfounded rumours and misleading social media posts alleging that a ‘big snake’ was killed in one of the classrooms on campus and being described as a deity,” the statement read.
