The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has conducted an operation at the residence of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, located in the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Witnesses report that EFCC officials barricaded the ex-governor’s residence from around 9 am on Wednesday, restricting access to and from the property.
Bello served as the governor of Kogi State from January 27, 2016, until January 27, 2024, when he handed over power to Usman Ododo, a fellow member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
VerseNews reports that the exact reason for the anti-graft agency’s operation remains unclear, as efforts to obtain comments from EFCC officials were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Meanwhile, some of Bello’s supporters were seen gathering in front of his residence, possibly in anticipation of developments related to the EFCC’s actions.
