The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the suspension of admissions into three major health-related programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

In a statement issued by the Registrar of the university, Dr. Mrs. Chukwuka Icha, and made available to journalists in Calabar on Friday through the institution’s Public Relations Unit, the university disclosed that it will not admit new students into Medicine and Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science, and Dentistry for the upcoming academic session.

According to the statement, all candidates who selected UNICAL as their first-choice institution for any of the affected programmes have been advised to immediately visit the nearest Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) office to process a change of institution.

The university stated that the deadline for completing the change of institution process is the end of July 2026, urging affected candidates to act without delay to avoid missing the opportunity to secure admission elsewhere.
